BAC ≈ (Total oz spirits × ABV/40 × 0.06 / 1.5) / (Weight kg × 0.7) − (0.015 × Hours)

Converts total spirit ounces to standard drink equivalents. Cocktails with multiple spirits require summing all spirit ounces.

Worked example

A 70kg person has 4 cocktails over 3 hours (each containing 2oz of 40% spirits).

  1. Total spirits: 4 × 2oz = 8oz at 40%
  2. Standard drink equivalents: 8 / 1.5 = 5.3 standard drinks
  3. Peak BAC: (5.3 × 0.06) / (70 × 0.7) = 0.065
  4. After 3 hours: 0.065 − (0.015 × 3) = 0.020
  5. Time to 0.00: ~1.3 more hours
  6. EtG detection: 48–80 hours

Result: Four 'moderate' cocktails equal 5.3 standard drinks. Full BAC clearance: ~4.3 hours. EtG detection: 2–3 days. Bourbon/whiskey cocktails cause worse hangovers than vodka-based ones.
