Target Heart Rate Formula

Your target heart rate during exercise depends on your maximum heart rate and your fitness goal. The most common formula (Haskell-Fox) estimates maximum heart rate as 220 minus your age. Training zones (moderate, vigorous, peak) are defined as percentages of this maximum. Training in the right zone optimizes fat burning, cardiovascular fitness, or athletic performance.
