Gross Profit Formula – Revenue Minus Cost of Goods Sold

Gross profit is the profit a business makes after subtracting the direct costs of producing or delivering its goods and services (COGS — Cost of Goods Sold). Unlike net profit, gross profit does not account for operating expenses, taxes, or interest. It is the first and most fundamental profitability metric, showing whether a core business model is viable before overhead costs are considered.
